IVF may be considered when pregnancy has not occurred despite regular unprotected intercourse or when a known fertility condition makes natural conception difficult. It may also be recommended for blocked fallopian tubes, certain cases of male infertility, endometriosis, reduced ovarian reserve or unsuccessful previous fertility treatments. A fertility specialist can evaluate both partners and recommend whether IVF or another treatment is appropriate.
