Before starting IVF, the fertility specialist may recommend tests to evaluate ovarian reserve, hormone levels, the uterus and ovaries, and other aspects of reproductive health. A semen analysis is commonly performed for the male partner. Additional blood tests, ultrasound scans or other investigations may be advised depending on medical history and previous fertility treatment. The exact tests required can therefore differ between patients.
