In conventional IVF, eggs and sperm are placed together in the laboratory so that fertilization can occur, while ICSI involves injecting a single selected sperm directly into an egg. ICSI may be recommended in certain cases of male infertility, previous fertilization problems or other specific clinical situations. It is not automatically necessary for every IVF cycle, and the fertility specialist will recommend the appropriate method after evaluation.
