Embryo transfer is the stage of IVF in which a selected embryo is placed into the uterus using a thin catheter. The procedure is generally brief and usually does not require anaesthesia. After the transfer, patients can usually return to normal daily activities with any specific precautions advised by their doctor. A pregnancy test is scheduled later to determine whether implantation and pregnancy have occurred.
