Developmental milestones are skills most children acquire as they grow, such as smiling, sitting, walking, speaking and interacting with others. Children develop at different rates, so a small variation does not necessarily indicate a problem. However, if your child is not achieving expected milestones, loses a skill they previously had, or you have concerns about their movement, speech, hearing, behaviour or social interaction, discuss them with a pediatrician.
