Preparing for vaginal delivery includes attending regular antenatal appointments, staying appropriately active if your doctor permits, eating a balanced diet and learning about labour and childbirth. Antenatal classes, breathing and relaxation techniques, pelvic floor exercises and discussing your birth preferences with your maternity team can also help you prepare. However, no exercise or preparation method can guarantee a normal delivery, as the safest mode of birth ultimately depends on how the pregnancy and labour progress.
