Some women who have previously had a C-section may be suitable for a vaginal birth after caesarean, known as VBAC. Suitability depends on factors including the type of previous uterine incision, reason for the earlier C-section, number of previous C-sections, current pregnancy and availability of appropriate monitoring and emergency care. An obstetrician should assess the potential benefits and risks before deciding on a birth plan.
